Our company's history can be traced all the way back to 1949 when real estate professional, John Ruffoni, opened up "Ruffoni Real Estate" which was located next door to Bank of America near the southeast corner of Main St. and Broadway in Santa Maria. The business location was later moved to 610 E. Main St. and in December of 1973, Ruffoni sold the company to business partners, Harry Hammond and Margaret Jarvis.
Hammond and Jarvis operated the business as a team until June of 1981 when Jarvis became the sole owner. Jarvis continued to operate the business under the name "Ruffoni Real Estate" until January 1, 1984 when the company name was changed to "Ruffoni-Jarvis Real Estate". Three years later, the company name changed again to "Jarvis Real Estate" and in November of 1989, the business location was moved to 409 E. Church St.
Shortly after the move, Luis F. Silveira, a licensed real estate agent, began his employment with the firm. On May 24, 1994, Luis obtained his broker's license and by September 7, 1994, Luis had become the managing broker of Jarvis Real Estate. Out of his respect for the previous owner of the company, Margaret Jarvis, whom he considered a mentor and friend, he continued to operate the business under the same name until August 10, 1998 when he decided to add his family name to the business by changing it to "Silveira-Jarvis Realty" which it remained for a couple of years before being changed again to "Silveira Properties" on June 22, 2000.
Our company became incorporated in 2004 and has since operated under the name "Silveira Properties, Inc."
